ballet

A classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. This class is ideal for the student who wants to learn grace and poise as well as the foundation of all other dance styles. This class will incorporate stretching, barre work, center exercises and across the floor.


tap

A form of dance where rhythmic sounds are created by the feet.  From beginner to advanced this class is ideal for developing coordination, increased motor skills, and musicality. This class will incorporate warm up, center technique, and dance combinations using various styles of upbeat music.


jazz

An ever changing dance genre always open to new movement ideas and the latest cultural styles.  A wonderful form of dance that stimulates the mind and body alike. This class will incorporate traditional dance moves with the latest dance styles. Students will experience increased flexibility while working on turns, leaps and jumps. This style of dance is appropriate for 1st Grade and up.


contemporaRy

Contemporary dance draws on modern dance techniques as well as newer philosophies of movement that depart from classical dance techniques by altogether omitting structured form and movement. Unlike classical ballet, contemporary often utilizes ground work and dancers often perform in bare feet.


hip hop

A specific style that focuses on body isolation technique as well as free-style improvisation. This high energy form of dance has become increasingly popular over the last 30 years with the influence of Hip Hop music. Students will learn various form of hip hop dance as this dance style is ever changing. Clean and age appropriate music is used for all class levels. This style of dance is appropriate for 1st Grade and up.


Acro dance is an art form that incorporates both fluid and graceful movements of dance and the correct execution of acrobatics. Dancers not only learn how to implement each skill with strength, balance, flexibility and correct technical execution, but also learn how to incorporate it into a dance routine. Although gymnastics and acrobatics are very similar, it’s the execution that makes them different. Acro gives dancers a solid foundation to master control of their body.
